Description
Located in the Flambeau Rive State Forest on Connors Lake. Highway "M" in the town of Hawkins on Highway 8, 20 miles east of Ladysmith or about 60 miles west of Rhinelander. Take Highway "M" north out of Hawkins 15.9 miles. Entrance to the park is clearly marked on the left (west side of the road) as "Conners Lake Campground." Fees are state sticker $25 resident; $10 Senior Resident (over 65). This is a one-time per year fee for all state parks. Drive in and pick a site (first come, first serve). Park your RV and return to registration. Daily fee if you already have a yearly state sticker is $7 resident and $5 Resident Senior. Sorry, I didn't catch the non-resident fees. Connors Lake Campground is located in the heart of the Flambeau River State Forest. There are approximately 8-10 sites on the lake with many more off lake sites. All sites are level gravel with a picnic table and firepit. Water is hand pump water only, so fill up in Hawkins before heading north. No dump station; no electricity. There are NO pull-through sites, but most are large enough to accommodate even the largest of rigs. This is a thickly wooded park with lots of shade, and little room for your satellite receiver to work. All sites are large and separated adequately with trees and brush for privacy. Park is located near ATV trails, hiking trails and, of course, beautiful Conners Lake and the Flambeau River. Canoe rentals and shuttle service are available for those who want to float the Flambeau River at "Big Bear Lodge" located on Highway "W" at the intersection of the Flambeau River. Excellent food at Big Bear Lodge. Roast duck is their speciality. What a nice place to camp!
